Weber County Release Types
Release from Weber County custody is a recorded change in legal or physical status. It does not always mean freedom without conditions. A person may leave the Weber County Correctional Facility on bond, own recognizance, a court order, or after serving a county sentence. Own recognizance, often shortened to O.R., means a judge permits release without bail while the case continues. A court may also dismiss a charge or impose probation. In each case, the sheriff's entry should identify the actual exit event.
Other departures are transfers. Weber County books Utah prisoners, U.S. Marshal prisoners, immigration detainees, and people held on Adult Probation and Parole matters. A transfer to the Utah Department of Corrections, another jail, a hospital, federal custody, or immigration custody continues confinement under a new custodian. The destination field is therefore as important as the date.
| Recorded event | Meaning | Best next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or O.R. | Community release while the case continues | Sheriff release entry and court docket |
| Court order or dismissal | A judge directs release or ends the charge | Signed order plus jail exit time |
| Time served | The county sentence has reached its end | Judgment, credit record, and release entry |
| Parole | State prison ends, but supervised sentence time continues | Board order and UDC status |
| Transfer or detainer handoff | Custody moves to another agency | Destination agency and movement record |
Note: A transfer from Weber County is continued custody unless the receiving record documents a later community release.
Weber County Release Records
A Weber County release record ties one person and one booking episode to the event that ended or moved custody. The live sheriff roster cannot serve that role. It lists current booking data and may disappear after a status change, but it supplies no public released filter, release time, reason, destination, or archive. A blank result is only a clue. It can reflect a release, transfer, court trip, data change, escape, death, or a name mismatch.
The useful record is specific. Ask for fields that distinguish namesakes and show both sides of the custody change. A court docket can explain the authority behind an exit, while the jail entry records when processing actually ended. Those dates may differ without either being wrong.
| Field | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Full name and identifiers | The correct person, including suffixes or alternate names |
| Booking number and admission time | The exact Weber County custody episode |
| Charge and case number | The court matter tied to that booking |
| Release date and time | The custodian's recorded exit event |
| Release authority or type | Bond, O.R., court order, time served, transfer, or another disposition |
| Hold and destination | Whether another agency received the person |
Weber County Release Timing
Weber County publishes unusually clear starting points for several release processes. The sheriff's Booking and Release page says completed-sentence releases begin at about 9 a.m. on the day time is served. Court-ordered releases begin processing at about 5 p.m. Bond releases proceed as soon as possible after bail is posted and processed. These are operational guides, not promised door times.
Holds, identity checks, several open cases, transport needs, and agency handoffs may delay or change the event. A judge's order time also differs from the jail's physical exit time. For that reason, record both labels instead of treating the first timestamp found as the whole answer.
The official page illustrates these local timing rules. Its release language appears in the captured source below.
The timing panel helps set expectations, while the individual admission and release record remains the proof of what happened.
Note: Processing start times are not exit guarantees; the named release record supplies the final time and destination.
Weber County Bail and Holds
At booking, staff tells the person what charges apply, the bail amount, whether bail is cash-only or bondable, and whether other holds exist. A hold is another legal reason the jail cannot complete a community release. Posting bail on one case does not clear a warrant, another court case, a state violation, or a federal or immigration detainer. The release entry should show whether the person left the facility or went to another custodian.
O.R. is the court-approved route that does not require bail. Weber-Morgan criminal justice planning also describes pretrial conditions that can include direct check-ins and a participant CSS app. That app serves enrolled people under supervision. It is not a public roster or a released-inmate search tool. The court order defines the pretrial terms, and the sheriff record confirms the physical exit.
Weber County Booking Scale
County figures describe the size of the jail operation, but they must be labeled with care. The Corrections Division reports more than 15,000 bookings each year and 888 beds. A county-posted 2026 PREA audit reports an average daily population of 720. Admission and Release uses a separate rounded figure of more than 14,000 annual bookings.
None of those measures is an annual release count. One person can have more than one booking, and the daily population is a point-in-time average. Weber County has not published an official yearly total for released inmates or a verified average stay in the reviewed sources.
Request Weber County Release Records
The Sheriff's Records Section holds the durable county route when the roster has changed. The Records Section accepts electronic requests through NextRequest and directs requesters to submit one request for each desired record. A narrow request produces a clearer search than a demand for every file connected to a name.
- Identify the person with name variants and the approximate booking period. Add a booking or case number if known.
- Ask for the admission time, release date and time, release type or authority, destination, charges, and booking number.
- Provide the requested name, address, daytime phone, specific description, and valid government photo identification.
- Choose electronic delivery when suitable. Ask for a fee estimate before authorizing costs.
- Read the response classification. It may approve, partly approve, deny, extend, or state that no responsive record is maintained.

Utah's Government Records Access and Management Act permits duplication and some compilation charges. Weber posts no single flat price for an ordinary inmate release record, so request an estimate. The office describes a ten-day grace period, but classification or extraordinary circumstances can extend handling. A deadline is not a guarantee that every requested field is public.
Note: The Records Section address differs from the jail, and an estimate should be requested before approving fees.
Weber County Records and Expungement
Utah GRAMA, Title 63G Chapter 2, governs access through record classifications. Public fields may be released while private, controlled, or protected material is withheld or redacted. Juvenile, medical, victim, investigative, security, sealed, and expunged information can receive different treatment. No official Weber source establishes a fixed retention period for the online roster or the underlying release database, so an old event may require a focused records request.
Expungement is the legal process that seals qualifying government case records from ordinary public view. Utah Courts expungement guidance and Title 77 Chapter 40a explain the current process. A missing Xchange row after expungement does not prove the booking never happened. It means access has changed under law.
- Release
- Physical exit from a custodian, including a transfer when the destination keeps custody.
- Parole
- Conditional release from prison while the state sentence continues under supervision.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision instead of, or after, some confinement.
- Discharge
- The end of the sentence or supervision obligation, not merely departure from a jail.
Find Weber County Released Inmates
Start with the system tied to the custody episode. The Weber County roster answers only whether a matching current booking appears. It is not an official released-person archive and has no 24-hour or 72-hour released view. The broader Released Last 24 Hours route therefore begins with records, VINE, and the court rather than a fictional feed.
- Search exact first and last names on the current roster. Preserve middle names, suffixes, booking numbers, and case numbers.
- Read the correct Utah district or justice court docket for bond, dismissal, sentence, warrant, or release orders.
- Check Utah VINE for a specific custody change and register for notice when ongoing alerts are useful.
- For a state client, search UDC and the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole decision system.
- For a federal or immigration handoff, follow BOP or ICE rather than the county roster.
- Request the sheriff's admission and release entry to confirm the time, type, and destination.
Build a short timeline: booking, court action, scheduled date, actual exit, destination, and later supervision end. Keep each source label. Several blank searches do not equal one positive release record.
The roster itself exposes a first-name and last-name search. Its list columns are booking date, last name, first name, middle name, gender, and age. A detail view can add the case number when supplied, physical descriptors, charge and statute labels, and bail or fine data. It does not publish release time, release authority, destination, a released-status filter, or a rolling archive. For a dated group of releases, identify an exact start and end in a GRAMA request and ask for public fields such as name, booking number, release time, and release type. The response is a records production, not a live feed, and should be described with its actual coverage dates.
Weber County Offender Search
The Utah Department of Corrections Offender Search covers people currently in state custody or under UDC probation or parole supervision. It does not cover a county-only booking and is not a permanent history after complete discharge. A person who has physically left prison on parole may remain searchable because Adult Probation and Parole still supervises the sentence.
| Search item | Use and limit |
|---|---|
| Name | Compare full identity details and search variants |
| Offender number | Best key when a verified UDC number is known |
| Current status or location | Distinguishes prison placement from community supervision |
| Date field | Read the exact live label; not every record shows a projected date |
A Board-ordered future parole date is not proof that the person physically left. A rescission, new court information, behavior, or unmet contingency can change it. UDC says most paroles and releases are processed on Tuesdays at the Utah State Correctional Facility, including most state clients held in county jails.
The official search screen shows the current-supervision scope and available search controls.
After full discharge, use UDC records, Board orders, and court records because the current-only search may no longer return the person.
Note: A UDC parole date marks conditional release, while sentence discharge is a later and separate legal event.
Weber County Supervision and Alerts
Parole and probation require different checks. Parole is conditional release from a prison sentence, while probation is supervision ordered by a court. UDC Adult Probation and Parole supervises state parolees and felony probationers in Weber County. A current UDC result can show that a person has left prison yet remains under AP&P supervision. The Region 2 Ogden office is the local route when the public result is unclear. A county misdemeanor probation order, however, remains a court record.
The VINELink Release Check can supply a separate custody-change notice. Utah VINE covers participating jails and prisons and accepts a name or offender number. After confirming the right person, a user may register a telephone number or email and create a PIN for phone confirmation. Notices can include release, transfer, escape, return from escape, death, and certain UDC parole events. A transfer notice means movement, not discharge. Confirm the final event with the sheriff, UDC, or court that held the underlying record.
For a state parole decision, search the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole by name, offender number, or date range. A hearing does not itself release anyone, and a Board date may change before the actual exit.
Weber County Release Court Trail
Release-related cases are split by jurisdiction. Felonies and class A misdemeanors go through Second District Court in Ogden, while lower-level cases may remain in one of Weber County's justice courts. Utah Xchange provides public district and justice court records by subscription or guest credit. MyCourtCase serves eligible parties who link their own cases. Court terminals and clerks provide an in-person route.
Local coverage needs care. Utah Courts reports complete Ogden District Court data for cases filed after October 14, 1997. Former Roy District Court information merged into Ogden in March 2003. Older cases may be incomplete, while sealed, expunged, juvenile, and other nonpublic matters are excluded. A docket can show the judge's authority, but only the custodian records the physical exit.
The official Xchange capture explains its statewide coverage and access model.
Search by court, case number, party name, case type, date of birth, or citation number, then read entries in order rather than relying on one status label.
Note: Court coverage gaps and expungement can explain a blank search without erasing the original custody event.
Weber County Reentry Before Release
WCSO Reentry Success Services adds a local planning layer before release. The program places residents within seven days of a scheduled release on a list and holds a pre-release fair each Thursday inside the Weber County Correctional Facility. Coordinators provide case management and link residents with county and community resources.
Named efforts include Reentry Success Services, Medication-Assisted Treatment, the Weber County Community Reentry Coalition, Weber CARE, and a high-utilizer initiative. Donated support may help with identification, transit, clothes, and other needs. The program page does not promise that each person will receive a given item or service. Participation also does not prove release took place. Verify the later exit through the jail record.
Federal Transfers from Weber County
Weber County books both U.S. Marshal prisoners and ICE detainees. A person missing from the county roster may have moved to federal or immigration custody. For a sentenced federal case, the BOP Inmate Locator can return a release date and the phrase “Not in BOP custody.” That result addresses BOP custody only. The U.S. Marshals Service prisoner system has no comparable public historical locator for federal pretrial detention.
For immigration custody, ICE ODLS searches by A-number and country of birth or by biographical data. It may include people released from ICE custody within the last 60 days, but a blank result is not proof of community release. It can reflect a spelling issue, a recent move, age limits, transfer, removal, or an event outside the locator's period. An ICE release can also carry reporting duties and an active immigration case.
The BOP locator capture shows the federal name and number search route.
Use the Weber release destination, federal docket, BOP result, or ICE case channel together. “Gone from Weber” is not a custody conclusion by itself.
Weber County Custody Systems
Each official system answers a narrow question. Match it to the custodian and the event rather than searching every portal as if all covered the same people.
| System | Best question | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| Weber roster | Is this booking still displayed? | No released archive or destination |
| Sheriff release record | When and how did county custody end? | Only WCSO-maintained records |
| UDC search | Is a state client imprisoned or supervised? | Current UDC population, not county-only history |
| Utah court record | What did the judge order? | An order is not the physical exit timestamp |
| VINE | Did a covered custody event trigger notice? | Not a permanent certified archive |
| BOP or ICE | What followed a federal or immigration handoff? | Agency-specific coverage |
A positive record should control the conclusion. If two sources show different dates, keep both with their labels and ask whether one marks an order, a scheduled event, the physical exit, or later posting. That method is more reliable than turning several “not found” results into an unsupported release claim.
Weber County Release Facilities
Weber County Correctional Facility is the main secure jail. Direct release may lead to the community, while another record may show transfer to UDC, another jail, a hospital, federal custody, or immigration custody. The release type and destination settle that distinction.
Kiesel Facility / Weber County Correctional Facility Kiesel serves work-release, community-service, and weekender participants. Authorized time outside is not final discharge. Court and sheriff program records show successful completion, termination, transfer, or a failure-to-return warrant.
Northern Utah Community Correctional Center (Northern Utah Treatment & Resource Center), is a UDC Adult Probation and Parole community-corrections site. Movement there from prison is a level-of-custody change. UDC, AP&P, and Board records show later transition, completion, transfer, or return to custody.
